Texas Man Sets Pullup Record at Age 54

Mark Jordan, from Texas, set a new record for total pull-ups executed in one day: 4,321! What’s remarkable about this accomplishment is that Jordan accomplished this feat at the age of 54. Here’s a video clip showing Jordan in his quest:

Pull-ups are great bodyweight exercises, engaging your core as well as your arms and shoulders. Obviously, Jordan is in great shape at the age of 54!

Jordan’s feat was certified by Guinness World Records.

Pullups are distinguished from chinups by grip. As trainer Jeff Cavaliere explains in the following video, pullups use an overhand grip and engage the lats, while chinups use an underhand grip and engage the biceps. It is good to do both forms of the exercise.

If you have trouble being able to do even one pullup, there are ways to work up to the task, such as inverted rows, in which you’re not having to move your entire bodyweight (they are demonstrated in the video above). Eventually you can work up to pullups with added weight attached.

Congratulations to Mark Jordan for his great accomplishment–quite inspirational!
